Suters Yard in the High Street is in fact haunted by a young girl called Rose, who lives behind a barrel in the celler. The owners at the time had a son called Jordan who spoke to the her while living at the pub in the late 1990s. He was astonished that he was the only one who could see her, and used to point and say "Look, she's there, can't you see her"? But no one could. The owners bought a new copy of a music compilation tape, which they used to play in the bar during business hours. It had been played several times from new and there was never any problems with the recording. However, one day when the tape was on and it got to a track by Kylie Minogue called 'Give Me Just A Little More Time', there were a few seconds of strange girlish laughter in the middle, before continuing with the rest of the song.
The Wateride Inn over Shoreham beach is haunted by a monk who has been seen wandering around from time to time. This haunting is put down to the fact that the pub was built on the site of a former priory associated with the Knights Templars.
The Ferry pub in East Street has been troubled in the past with strange, unexplained noises coming from the cellar, when it was known that no one was down there.
